Shell Davies-Millar from Northamptonshire Police Force Communication Centre is planning her third charity challenge, this time in aid of the British Heart Foundation.
On 1st September, Shell will embark on a coast-to-coast trek, from St Bedes on the West Coast to Robin Hood Bay on the East.
The 191-mile trek will take Shell and her friend 16 days to finish.
Shell has already completed two charity climbs to Everest base camp, one last year and one in 2007. She endured blizzards, freezing temperatures, being pushed off a steep path by a herd of yaks and also saw another climber succumbing to frostbite, but completed both climbs in high spirits.
Shell is staying closer to home for her next big challenge, nonetheless it is set to be just as challenging.
Shell said:
“So far I have done Charity Treks which involves an activity I enjoy with the bonus of raising money for a worthwhile Charity.
This year I plan to do the same but for more personal reasons.”
Though she is paying for the trip herself, Shell is raising money for the British Heart Foundation, after her brother suffered a massive heart attack last month.
“My brother had a massive heart attack at home. He was rushed to the local hospital and the treatment he received was exceptional.
“My brother is a fit 47 year old; none of us expected this situation.
“It has changed our lives in many ways, but we are relieved to know that the support my brother needs will continue well into the future by the medical team involved.
“I have spoken to lots of people and all have said that they have somebody close to them or someone they know affected by heart problems.
“Please donate anything you can afford to this fantastic Charity and join my family and I in thanking them for their research and treatment that helped save my brothers and others lives over the years”.
