OK, so Davina won't be there, but residents of all ages can still come along to Corby’s very own ‘diary room’ this weekend and tell ‘Big Borough’ their thoughts and feelings of the town through a unique consultation event.

Corby Borough Council in partnership with Northamptonshire County Council, Northants Police, Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue and Land Securities are moving into a shop outlet in New Post Office Square (next to the Peacock store) on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th February 2010 in order for Corby’s ‘housemates’ to have their say.

The consultation event will focus on youth engagement issues such as youth activities, crime and community.

From 10am to 4pm, Residents can enjoy FREE refreshments, FREE face painting (11am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 3.30pm), FREE henna design and a FREE raffle. There will also be a chance to have a Body Shop mini make over on Saturday, although this will need to be booked before the event.

The “Big Borough” Diary Room will be open throughout the two days and will record residents’ answers to Big Borough’s questions, which partners will use to shape future initiatives. Residents under the age of 16 years old will need parental consent to take part and it is advised to book an appointment for the Diary Room to avoid disappointment.

Leader of Corby Borough Council, Cllr Pat Fawcett, said:

“This is a great new way to listen to the voices of people in Corby and I’m sure it will create a lot of interest especially from the younger generation. By using the ‘Big Borough’ consultation we will hopefully get family members of all ages involved and I look forward to hearing some of their ideas and opinions on how we can improve the Borough for all of our residents.’

Northamptonshire County Council's Community Manager, said:

"We want to work with partners to talk to people of all ages in Corby about their views around young people of today and young people of yesterday.  This event is about bridging the gap between the older and younger generation and trying to find common ground on how we can move forward and build a positive future for Corby together.”

To book an appointment for the Diary Room or for the Body Shop mini make over please contact Corby Borough Council’s Neighbourhood Management and Community Safety Team on 01536 464603.
