A Senior Lecturer in Paramedic Science at The University of Northampton has been presented with life saving equipment by ZOLL Medical, a leading manufacturer of resuscitation products, following winning a national CPR skills competition.
Ashley Knights,
School of Health, took part in the competition at The Emergency Services Show against other ambulance and medical professionals to test his CPR skills to win a ZOLL AED Pro® defibrillator.
The ZOLL Real CPR Help challenge consisted of delegates performing two minutes of CPR on the ZOLL AED Pro defibrillator. The AED Pro device features ZOLL's Real CPR Help® technology, which gives rescuers feedback on how well they performed the rate and depth of CPR chest compressions in real time, helping rescuers improve CPR performance.
Pocket CPR®, a hand held CPR training device was given to the top CPR performers each day at The Emergency Services Show and Ashley was the clear winner of the overall event with the highest score; an outstanding 99% of CPR compressions on target. He commented:
''I am very pleased to have won the AOLL AED Pro and it will be put to excellent use in both the teaching of Paramedic students and as an operational defibrillator on-site. The ZOLL CPR challenge is an excellent way to emphasise the importance of good quality and effective CPR in cardiac arrest management and the ZOLL technology is a great way to evaluate technique.''
Steve Mather, ZOLL EMS Sales Manager presented the AED Pro to Ashley Knight and Dr Sue Allen, Dean of the School of Health, during an open day held in their impressive new paramedic training facilities.
