Police are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery, which occurred on Wednesday 21 December, between 2.55pm and 3.00pm at the Jet Garage, Rockingham Road, Corby.

A security guard who had just collected cash from the Jet Garage was transporting it in a cash box when he was approached by a male wearing a full face balaclava and carrying a shotgun.

The offender demanded the security guard place the cash box on the floor which he did.

The offender then picked up the box and got into the front passenger seat of a nearby black Volkswagen Golf GTi registration number J247 CUM, which had been stolen from Corby on Monday 19 December.

The vehicle then drove off at speed onto Rockingham Road in the direction of Willowbrook Road.

The internal security system of the cash box was then activated causing red smoke/dye.

The suspect vehicle was later seen on Stour Road where the cash box was discarded. The Vehicle was later found abandoned in Tay Close, Corby.

The main offender is described as male, 5ft 6ins tall, wearing a full face balaclava, grey hooded top, dark jeans, black trainers and gloves.

The full length shotgun was double barrelled side by side with a wooden stock.

Witnesses to this incident, or anyone with information, should call Northamptonshire Police on 101 - alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
